Overview

The ICITE 2026 School Innovation Competition provides a platform for school students, school teachers, Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) students, and undergraduate students to showcase innovative ideas, educational products, prototypes, digital applications, teaching materials, and practical solutions addressing real-world educational challenges.

The competition promotes creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and the meaningful application of science, technology, and educational knowledge. Participants will compete according to the following two categories.

Competition Categories

Category A: School Student Innovation

This category is open to:

  • Primary school students
  • Secondary school students

Participation may be individual or in teams of up to five students. Each team must be supervised by one or two teacher advisers from the same school. The teacher adviser or advisers will provide guidance throughout the preparation, development, and presentation of the innovation project.

Category B: Educator and Higher Education Student Innovation

This category is open to:

  • Primary and secondary school teachers
  • Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) students
  • Undergraduate students from higher education institutions

Participation may be individual or team-based, with a maximum of five members per team. Participants may submit innovations related to teaching, learning, educational technology, assessment, inclusion, sustainability, or other areas relevant to educational improvement.

Innovation Areas

Innovations may be submitted under any of the following areas:

  • STEM innovations
  • Artificial intelligence applications in education
  • Educational technology and digital learning
  • Environmental and sustainability innovations
  • Inclusive and special education
  • Teaching and learning innovations
  • Assessment and instructional innovations
  • Science and engineering innovations
  • Community-based educational solutions
  • Robotics and coding projects

Participation Guidelines

Category A: School Student Innovation

  • Open to primary and secondary school students.
  • Participation may be individual or in teams of up to five students.
  • Each team must have one or two teacher advisers from the same school.
  • The innovation must demonstrate meaningful student involvement.
  • The teacher adviser may guide the team but should not replace the students during the presentation and question-and-answer session.

Category B: Educator and Higher Education Student Innovation

  • Open to school teachers, IPG students, and undergraduate students.
  • Participation may be individual or in teams of up to five members.
  • Team members should be from the same participating institution unless otherwise approved by the organiser.
  • The innovation must demonstrate originality, educational relevance, practicality, and potential impact.
  • All participants must be actively involved in the development and presentation of the innovation.

Presentation Format

Participants must present their innovation through:

  • A poster presentation
  • A prototype, product, application, module, or demonstration, where applicable
  • A 10-minute presentation
  • A 5-minute question-and-answer session

Digital innovations may be presented through a live demonstration, recorded demonstration, or interactive presentation, subject to the technical facilities available.

  • Relevance to the competition theme — 20%

  • Quality and clarity of presentation — 15%
  • Creativity and problem-solving — 15%
